TOUR THE SEAQUELL

Cabo, Mexico - March 1, 1999

Cabo San Lucas

Position: Cabo, Mexico - March 1, 1999

Seaquell and Klindworths are finally back at sea to continue our World Tour. We have been away from our sailing trip and spending time with our family and friends on St. Croix for the holidays plus attending to our medical needs before our departure to the Pacific.
In early December son Todd, the Jorris families-- brother-in-law and nephew with his family, Richard Bridgeforth, and Melissa Hubbard were all guest for a day sail to Catalina from Long Beach. After that trip, we sailed South to San Diego. Roger and Ann Drinkwalter join us for a day cruise and dinner. We all enjoyed the San Diego harbor views and the Navy shipyards where John spent his early Navy days. Roger is a grade school classmate and neighbor of John's from Zumbro Falls.

Seaquell was sent to the yard for additional work in preparation for going south. Our new very capable and responsible crew took charge. We are proud to have Captain Peter Verdon from Australia and his wife Gabriela, our stewardess from Uruguay, First Mate James Whitehead from England and our Finish Chef Nuko Aramo on our staff.

We left Dec. 15 to enjoy some family and personal time on the beach in the warm and sunny Caribbean. The West Coast and the Pacific Ocean was a little chilly for us. We spent Christmas at home on St. Croix. Tracey and her family and Grandma Doc joined us after Christmas for the rest of the Holidays. Nice to visit with our friends on St. Croix and Carden Beach. We also initiated the start of construction on another 10-unit building at Carden Beach. New Years Eve was enjoyed with our Carden Beach family. New Years Day we spent with Todd at his beautiful new home on St. Maarten overlooking Simpson Bay and celebrating his Birthday.

We returned to the Seaquell Jan 15 and spent time with Roy and Cammie Olson, David, Lauren and Emily Olson, Wilma and John Parrot and Joe and Mickey Miller with an all day sail, lunch and dinner out of San Diego harbor. John enjoyed some golf with the men and June was happy shopping with the girls.

On Jan 23 we flew to the Hoopers in Snowmass for a surprise 50th birthday party Teri planned for Rich. Tamie, Bob, Todd and Dan Terry came too plus a house full of guests. It was great fun and a total surprise for Rich.

While in Aspen we made a major decision for June to have a new left shoulder put in at the Hawkins clinic in Vail. It was scheduled for Feb. 4, has been completed and she in now doing the therapy to make it work like new. June stayed in Aspen for recovery time and therapy while John departed with Seaquell for Cabo San Lucas on the Baja with the crew. June was well attended to by all the Hoopers, especially Kaitlyn and Keegan.

On the trip down we stopped at Ensenado and at Magdalena Bay where many of the gray whales are born. The bay was full of whales with their young, many of which swam with us the rest of the way to Cabo. While Seaquell waited in Cabo, June continued her therapy and was dismissed by Dr. Hawkins to join Seaquell the end of Feb.

In Cabo John and Wilma Parrott, Bill and Mailand Card, John and Joyce Peterson, J P and Dee Poole, and Bob and Ann Holdahl were all on a golfing vacation, but they joined us for 2 days of good sailing out of Cabo. We found some whales and rays and a full moon to make it perfect. John had the pleasure of playing golf on the spectacular new hotel courses and June enjoyed vacationing with all of these Mpls. friends. It was an enjoyable group that we had the pleasure of sailing with on SeaQuell. More to follow as we head south in Mexico.
