TOUR THE SEAQUELL

Juneau Alaska -July 31, 1998

Juneau Alaska

Position: Juneau Alaska -July 31, 1998

We have just finished our Alaskan cruise aboard the trawler, Lady Faye, with the Kirkman family: Tracey, Jonathan, Jeffrey and Jenna. Starting in Sitka our cruise took us north to Juneau.

Alaska is so big and beautiful, there are endless mountains and inland bays to cruise and find safe anchorages.

Sitka was the Russian capitol of Alaska with many historical sites tying back to the days of the Russian ownership. Sitka is on the coast and receives a lot of rain, but the fishing here is the best in Alaska. We caught nine salmon totaling over 100 lbs. in two hours. We ate some and shipped the rest home.

Our cruise was a wealth of experiences: the salmon factory and hatchery, whales, sea lions, seals, and tidal glaciers with fields of ice and large icebergs all being part of the Alaskan inland waterway. The waterway is at the base of 10,000 foot snowcap mountains forming glaciers that reach the sea.

The Alaskan inland waterway is an experience everyone should see to appreciate its beauty. SeaQuell is continuing its way north and on this date is leaving San Francisco.
