SeaQuell's web page has been silent for a few months since she has
been in the yard at Derecktors of Ft. Lauderdale for a major refit.
The refit became more extensive as we began making changes and ideas
surfaced for improvements. Most of the changes will not be noticed from
the outside but our goals was to have SeaQuell be a safe and sound boat
for her voyage to the Pacific.
Major refit items are:
Complete overhaul of both engines and large generator New shorepower
stabilized system All new galley fixtures. New office equipment with
satellite TV, computer network. New communication system using mini-M
and digital cellular. New bow thruster with double the power New and
rebuilt sail furling with improved hydraulics. New electronics, radar,
depth finder, SSB, GPS New main winches and rebuilt windlass with new
anchor chain. Mast and rigging removed inspected and updated.
Our scheduled departure date from Ft. Lauderdale is about June 15. We
will sail to the Panama Canal and then return to Mpls while the crew
takes SeaQuell to Juneau. Todd will join us to take our plane to Anchorage
about July 6, tour northern Alaska, meeting SeaQuell in Juneau about
July 15.
The Hooper family will join us on July 15 and the Kirkman family will
join us about July 20 in the Juneau area with Campbell family joining
SeaQuell about Aug.15 in the Vancouver area.
