TOUR THE SEAQUELL

Port of Monaco, French Riviera -August 10, 1997

Monaco French Riviera

Position: Port of Monaco, French Riviera -August 10, 1997

We have found the French Riviera to be the most ideal vacation area for weather, warm clear water and all the entertainment desired. The weather may be unusual bit we have had no rain since starting our cruise of the Med on July 16. As we are close to the mountainous shore we have not much wind for sailing. There is so much to see that we have spent most of our time ashore.

Cannes, Nice, and Monaco have all the beauty that we have heard about and the best way to visit is by boat from the sea. We found space in the harbor at Monaco and have anchored out at other stops from San Tropez to Monaco for open space and our morning swim. The flat water in the Med makes it ideal for power boats and the many cigarette types of high speed boats moving between ports and beaches. While the weather is ideal for going to the beach, not all the beaches are as nice as the Caribbean. At Nice they are putting their towels on 2" pebbles (rocks) and trying to walk on the rocks to the water. As difficult as it is there are so many people using the beach there is no place to put a towel or another umbrella. With all its fame it's less than ideal. In most of the other areas the beach is more usable or ladders have been built down to the water on the rock walls.

On to Italy!
