Position: Southampton, England May 31, 1997 We arrived Southampton during an all England race around the Isle of Wight, 1500 sailboats. This is our Captain Richards home town area so he was most familiar with the region and the Harbor and glad to be home. Southampton harbor was the home of many of the English Passenger ships and very busy port with passengers departing arriving from around the world. The trip from the Azores was a bit rougher as we crossed directly to Finasterre then across the Bay of Biscay into the channel and to the harbor and 3800K from St. Croix. June arrived in London from Mpls. on June 3 to join the cruise. After a brief stay in London to enjoy theaters and resturants we meet the boat in Dover on June 7. |
