The Start of our 5 Year Journey Around the World-
St. Croix, USVI -May 11, 1997 Seaquell has been given its final inspection by the Captain Richard and the chef has provisioned the boat for the crossing. The rest of the crew has everything stowed and the boat looking its best. I have been patently waiting for our adventure to begin. I have studied the charts and read the cruising guides for the past 6 months to plan what I thought would be an exciting trip. Our first stop will be the Azores where most cruising boats stop after the 2500 mile trip. Usually a much needed rest or party will be needed. The family and friends had a great party on the boat with champagne, banners, and signs for the departure. The Kirkman family, living on St. Croix, was all excited with kids wanting to join us for the trip. It was both exciting and sad departing the dock and leaving June behind wondering if she would ever see us again or what kind of venture this would be. ( Next Entry ) |
